p.1 #1 · CS4 color management BAD PRINTS

I hope everyone else is having a happy holiday and Santa was good to you.

I unfortunetly have a problem with my printing that Im sure someone else has run into and knows the fix.

I just upgraded from PS CS to CS4 exteneded, running on windows XP, with a color proofed Sony Monitor.

Up until this point Ive had no problem printing to either of my printers, an Epson 4000 and a 2200. The colors have always been spot on, to the what I saw.

After the upgrade to CS4 however, I can not get the color right when printing to the Epson 4000. I'm sure its a settings or color managment issue, but cannot find anywhere, after searching the documentation and the web, for a step by step quide to checking my settings.

I had a Epson pdf years ago that went step by step when working with Photoshop, in setting the printer, but cant find it.

I tried to go back to the older CS version, to see how I had it set up, but it just defaults back to cs4 when I click the icon, and CS4 print setting windows are different.

The first print came out with a darker yellowish tint. On subsequent prints, I was able to get better colors, but they looked muted or dull. Seven (7) prints later and they still look like garbage. For the record Im printing Epson Luster on the roll.

I tried printing to the 2200, and it comes out ok, just not to the 4000.

ANY THOUGHTS?

Thanks,

Sam

It sounds like double color management is occurring: Photoshop is managing color the but the internal driver on the 4000 is not being turned off. I had a similar problem with an HP printer after upgrading from PS7>CS3>CS4. The quickest way to verify is to let the printer manage color and see if the problem disappears.

Check to see if an updated driver is available.

ya, you either should turn off color management on the printer and use photoshops settings, or diable photoshops color management and use your printers..

when using both, you 'double profile' which usually causes a color cast (sometimes greenish, or magentaish) and dull muted colors.. green shaded means a bad profile, magenta and dullish means double profiling.
