p.1 #1 · Want to pick up a Para copy in Beijing NOW

Hi

This is my third post today...

This is becuse I just/yesturday swapped to Broncolor and will need to change the light accessories on this years budget.

Sooo, my Profoto 5 foot reflector will have to go.

The Bron Para 170 is a bit pricey and a friend of mine is going to Beijing, Chaoyang district, tomorrow.

Can a silver Para 170 copy be picked up in that area, or at least in town? To me best possible quality and usability with a Pulso head is more important than the lowest price. It MUST be focusable.

So an adress where they have that sort of product IN STOCK would be VERY VERY nice:-)

The Jinbei Sun is the closest thing Iīve found so far;

My friend is staying in Beijing a day or two so time is a factor. Reasonable compact size packed is also more important than compact price...

Regards Ulf

There are some older threads here on the Para knockoffs. Discussion of various importers, etc.

Do you want it for studio, location. or? I had a 220 and loved that. I went with a 170 for location. If I had a choice for studio use I would go with the 220 though.

Beautiful light. Shh, don't tell anyone though ...

Don't know anything about the imitators.

Ulf,
I doubt that your friend, supposed he finds a source in Beijing, will be able to carry the umbrella by plane. The package will be a little over 2m length and 30Kg weight....I know of a source in Germany selling them (silver lining) at € 700 incl. VAT. Here's the link:
JinBei Para umbrella
As for Profoto's umbrellas compatibility to Bron...their rod's diameter is 7mm. I bet a chocolate santa that Bron's attachment will accept them
cheers, Peter

30 kg!!!
Even if the carton and stuff weighs a bit this thing must be HEAVY!
I would like to use it on location... Does anyone know what the actual thing (without package) weighs?

Are all chinese copys this heavy?

The para 170FB is 6,1kg.

30kg is including the heavy-duty stand. The weight of the para itself may be about 10kg plus shipping box, size of the box 165x20x20cm.
You may of course use an already existing stand, e.g. Manfrotto cine stand, to save some on the freight duty.
The spokes, the center pole etc. are made from steel. I think that at this price tag the mfg can not afford to use leighter weight (dural) materials.

I just talked to my friend that takes of for Beijing now. A bit over 1 meter in lenght is ok. I donīt want a stand. A bag with it would be nice and the shipping box will probably have to go before taking it on the plane.

To bad that they donīt use alloy and charge a bit more...

My Para 170 fits inside of a large Tamrac roller. It would also fit inside of a golf bag.

No idea about the clone.
