p.1 #1 · Help! Printing to an R1800 - what profile?

Yet another emergency question from me. (sorry)

I still can't get my Epson R1800 to print the correct colors & saturation.

I'm working in PS CS2, on a Mac.

I have learned to change all my pics to embedded sRGB, so they look correct on friends' Windows pc's. I bought a calibration kit for my LCD, so I am close enough for my needs.

I'm using an Epson R1800, with Epson Premium Luster paper

I found that Epson finally came out with a new Leopard-compatible driver this year, so my old printer woes are gone. I also downloaded / installed the Epson premium profiles, which are specifically for PS.

So far so good.
----------------------------

However, while my prints are a lot closer to correct than last year (driver issue) they are still far from correct. All pics are printing over-saturated, and have a slightly bluish shading.

I simply chose the "print using embedded profile" command in CS2, which obviously was a mistake.

What would be the safest method to follow, printing from within CS2?

-thanks

.

Bump.

Any ideas at all? Should I use RGB, even though the pics were saved with sRGB embedded?

Am I supposed to pick a different profile for the printer, somehow?

I'd rather not waste a lot of ink & paper experimenting. Hoping for some quick advice.

-thanks.

Your 1800 manual has a section on printing thru PS. Follow it exactly.

Well, I TRIED to follow my manual exactly.

It says to change CS2's working space to RGB. But then it says to print with the embedded profile of the image, if a profile has been embedded. OK, my pics are embedded with sRGB.

So, I set the working space to RGB and printed sRGB, JUST LIKE IT SAYS, and the pics still look fine on the screen, but they print even worse than before.

So much for the manual.

Any ideas?

Ughh.

The manual was no help.

All my pics have a greenish cast.

Hope you all had a better X-mas than I did.

When you print, you MUST 'print with preview'. THAT's where you set the printer's profile output space.

It -IS- difficult to understand (hell-you -wont- understand it, you'll do what I do, and just blindly follow the correct steps. It IS worth it, when you figure it out.
