Finally I have my own nickname to post under (previously 'Mrs. thunderbirda')
Thanks to everyone for their suggestions in my last post.
To celebrate this, I have included some of my favorites from this year. All of these have been professionally enlarged and framed in my living room. They remind me of a memorable trip across America. Now I'd like to share them with you all.
I find that my life has been further enriched with the ability to express through the art of photography.
If you had to pick a best from this bunch, which one would you select, and why?
Hanh,
Very nice images indeed and hard to choose one over the others.
I guess I would choose #3 because it has a stronger dynamic than the other two. It seems to be telling more of a story so to speak. It's background not nearly a nice as the others but I still am drawn to it for some reason. Thanks for sharing them with us.
My vote goes for #2. I like that shot because the subject was photographed in a way that really makes it stand out from the background. Having a clean, non-distracting background helps to achieve this affect. I also like the framing with the bird looking to the left and how the subject is positioned on the right side of the frame. Also the texture and color patterns on the feathers are striking. Nice pleasing green color tones adds to the peaceful quality of the photo.
Hi Hanh,
So nice to see you finally have your nick name and a post of your own.
Wow tough decision on my favorite because I like Roadrunners, but I'm
going to have to pick #3 because of the DOF, Lighting and Composition.
It was nice seeing you, the hubby and the kids on Sunday.
Thanks
Excellent "first" post, three wonderful images... However, I didn't realize I was going to be tested.
Well... they're all good and I really do like each one, but my favorite is:
#3 Because I like the feel of this image... overcast light, very peaceful, my eye goes directly to the darker bird in the right front which is in pleasing contrast to all of the other white birds. Wonderful reflection, shallow DOF as focus fades nicely into the distance.
Very well done on all three of these Hanh, you have an excellent eye and skilled technical ability.
Hi Hanh
This is a hard one. I like all of them. I have to say if I have to pick it will be #2. I like the pose, simplicity of the image and the bokeh.
Harsha
Congratulations on finally getting your own account on FM. I was getting very confused trying to keep up with you and Andy using the same account. You are free now
Every one of these photos is beautiful in their own right and I can see why you would want to print and keep them. I like the last shot - beautiful colors, nicely framed and the reflections pull your interest into the frame - a wall hanger in every regards.
Hello Lady_Bug Gurl Love the identity for you, Andy will have to work harder now to keep up
Three very different and expressive images. I see the first more as art form and an expression of freedom. The second shot is pristine and the lines of the subject flow nicely from tail to head and what a wonderful comp on this Hanh. The last shot evokes such a peaceful mood, although there is quite a bit in this image is does not come across as cluttered but keeps my eyes looking around and enjoying the whole image, the reflections are just an elegant part of this image, this is my favorite for those reasons and I would think when you remember this shot it is a peaceful feeling for you.
If I had to choose, it would be your earlier post showing the series of the cormorant, pelican, and flatfish fight at Bolsa Chica--excellent photography and capture. I showed it to my marine biologist photographer friends and they were very impressed--lots of "wows."
For this set, Karl Witt expressed what I would say, too.
I got to go with 2, I love the image, you had to work hard to get it and it is something I have always wanted to photograph but have yet had the opportunity.
