I've done my first studio class and now want to do more, but on my own.
Can anyone recommend a very practical book that gives examples of basic setups for model shoots with clear explanations of lighting used, technical details and an image to show the result?
Yes, this book is excellent. I picked this book up a few years ago. Although I understand everything in it I still find that I can't let go of it. I was just looking at it this evening when I came across this post.
You may actually want to buy a used copy rather than print all of those pages. It's worth having a good clean solid copy of this book.
In New York visiting Mom so will go into city this afternoon to look for a copy.
Not sure what best photo bookstores are, I of course know B&H but while they stock everything else books aren't really there forte if I recall.
If it's any help. I've seen this book in many Borders and Barnes and Nobles bookstores when checking out the photography section. Best of luck finding a copy.

Thanks. In fact I've needed to go to a general bookstore anyway today, my wife in France asked me to pick up a copy of Martin Eden by Jack London in English!
