p.1 #1 · Focus confirm adapter 5DII

Shooting 98% of the time with a tripod (architecture, landscapes) and considering the nice live view on my brand new 5DII... i think i won't use the optical viewer anymore, so my question is... does the focus confirm adapter have an other use appart from focus confirmation ?

So far, the mirror clearance seems to be similar to the Mark I

PS : i have my 5D to sell now... with a french fnac warranty till july 2011... if a french is interest, send me a message....

If you get a programmed adapter (programmed with the correct focal length) it facilitates use of the manual aperture auto shutterspeed safety mechanism that keeps it at 1/FL. If you use a tripod this is obviously much less of a necessary feature.

Also, assuming you get an adapter with the correct information programmed in, then you also get EXIF info about the lens.

Focus confirmation isn't as accurate as live view with zoom. Programmable adapters don't pass the data that's useful like we get with EF lenses.
If you have reasonable eyesight, I wouldn't bother with a chipped adapter.
