This kind of shot is always interesting to me. I have to wonder what the boat is used for, and why someone would leave it in a place where they know this will happen. It's just that I never see this kind of scene where I live, and it's quite bizarre to my thinking.
Cool shot, by the way...

Tom and Marj,
Nice catch and presentation of what was no doubt a tragedy for the boat owner.
The name of the fishing boat and the bay in the background indicates that it ran aground near Point Reyes. Was it Tomales Bay?
I might prefer to see a bit more of the surroundings; this is pretty tight.

Tim - maybe they couldn't make the payments?? but its been there for years.
Charlie - it is on the road to Inverness, about where the road splits to Pierce Point ranch.
I cut some of the background in attempt to add more drama. always a compromise!
I like these kind of images, has interest and plenty of textures to look at. I think if you crop the water off the picture, it would make an even stronger image. Just my 2 cents.
Gavin - thanks for the comment. interestingly, I shot this because I liked the reflection, and now I should chop it out!
but you may be right; it will certainly cause a major composition change. I'll do it . . ..
