Iīm new to this Forum and do not post much (hardly anything) but I check the Peoples Forum daily - guess it would demand too much time to check every single Forum section so I just stick with my favourite
So... christmas is near and I want to give something to my boss, who really is into Dirty Harry movies
I was thinking about a photo montage with his head on a Dirty Harry DVD-Album printed, with a frame.
Unfortunately Iīm still a beginner at Photography and did not spend too much time on post processing so far, I lack the skills to copy his head and make it look real...
I think someone with experienec with photoshop & co should be able to get it done within 5-10 minutes.
If you are willing to help me out, please PM me with your mail and Iīll forward the album + pic of my boss.

5-10 minutes? how good of a job do you want? You want someone to violate a copyrighted image (Dirty Harry) for free?
For someone who has experience with photoshop prolly 5 min max.
I think this is a great gift for my boss and he would enjoy it a lot, unfortunately I lack the skills. The album is B/W so I think this should even lessen the work needed to adjust the head to the picture.
I already expected someone would show up and mention the copyright aspect.
AfaIk it is allowed to copy pictures and use them for private purpose (at least in Austria).
I do not intend to sell the picture, nor to publish it on any website.
I do not wish to get any deeper into that copyright stuff.
This is supposed christmas gift for someone, nothing else.
He has almost every Dirty Harrty DVD Box out there and we even have a dirty harry flipper in our office
So, if someone out there is willing to help out, Iīd greatly appreciate it.

Pay for the work then.

Stay out of the Thread please? Why waste your time on typing a post that doesnīt benefit me nor you?
Iīm asking for a favour here.
I donīt get it. Christmas is near and I need help on a christmas gift, but the only two replies so far are both "agressive" and without the intention to help at all?
Why do this? Why reply to a Thread without the intention to help?
Fortunately someone very nice already PMd me and offered to help out. Asking to include his name on the card is all he asked for.
Now that is the spirit of christmas!
Without sounding overly "aggressive" ....
re your comment, "Why do this? Why reply to a Thread without the intention to help?"
Responses to your "Favour" by Jordan is helpful ... helpful to those who are trying to make a living using their hard-earned skills, time plus TALENT ... they too could use the "Favour" ... it translates into "letting me earn a living, please ... "

Sorry, but I disagree.
Thatīs like blaming someone blaming a guy, who asks in a "Fitness"-Forum for advise on training, that heīs harming fitness-isntructors by asking something like this in a Forum without actually paying an instructor...
You get what I mean? Sorry, my english sucks -.-
""letting me earn a living, please ..."
Itīs not like I am forcing people to do it for free, but Iīm asking if someone out there is willing to do it for free.
I have a great idea for a gift, but unfortunately lack the skills to do it. So I thought Iīd give it a try at the "Digital Art" Forum at fredmiranda, knowing that there are people arounds whoīd maybe be willing to help me out.
If someone posts his recent digi art work here and asks for criticism, do you tell him to pay for the time you spend on writing the feedback/critique?
Don't want to pursue this much more ... but, I understand that it's always nice to have someone do a little something extra for us .... and, yes, asking for a favor is indeed not forcing anyone to do anything .... I do think though that there are some folks much too much willing to work for free or at very low wages for one reason or another .... perhaps, this is why I am responding to your request as such ... nothing personal ... it's the times we live in where in some parts of the world more and more labor is not only a cheap commodity but seeming more and more like 'slave wages' with the final products sold at phenomenal prices .... I guess my response is coming more from a political and philosophical point of view ... and not really an attack on human kindness - something we can all work on more ...
So, it's Christmas ... Merry Christmas, Joyeux Noel .... und Frohe Weihnachten!

For someone who has no experience a PS How do you know how long it would take? As far as copyrights are concerned the penalty for doing it once is as bad as doing 20,000 times. AND you want it for FREE? You're not willing to take any of your time do learn a "simple" PS technique, yet you want someone on this forum to "donate" their time? Sorry...wrong number.

Your first question is kinda "stupid", just cause I lack the skills, it doesnīt automatically mean that I can not estimate how long it would take for someone with the skills to do it.
As for copyrights, I already mentioned that over here in Austria, afaik you are allowed to copy a picture for your own use, again I do not intent to publish the picture nor to sell it.
I donīt know about rules on copyright at your place though.
I WANT nothing for free, Iīm ASKING for something and noone, who doesnīt want to, has to help me out. Whatīs the big deal?
Do you tell guys, who ask for criticsm on their pics posted, to pay you? You also spend time and make use of your "photographic experience" to give criticm, donīt you?
I lack the skills + the programs to do the montage and even if I had the program 3 days would not have been enough to learn it cause I had no time due to work + school.
You probaly spend one or two minutes on writing that post, how about simply ignoring my Thread if you donīt like it and move on? Donīt waste your time?
hey metroid, sorry about the harsh responses you've got here. As an experienced Photoshop user, i can tell you yeah, it is 5-10 minutes worth of work. I'm not sure why people are reacting like you've asked for a kidney.
so don't sweat it, your request and logic are completely reasonable. let's just chalk some of the negativity here to "economic stress" and "holiday anxiety".
