In the current issue of Zeiss' newsletter on lenses, they have a 33 page booklet titled "How to Read MTF Curves".

Go to the link below and click on the ReadOn button for the pdf file. I have not read it yet, so I can't comment on the contents yet.

I like the fact that 24mp sensor has resolution of 90lp/mm, just like color negative film. And also that good lenses should by far exceed the resolution of a 24mp.
