looking at the amvona black velour background. anyone use it? is it any good? good compant to deal with? good price, or is there a better value (doesn't have to be cheaper)?

114.5" x 8 yards =$109.95 + shipping (not sure how much)

Don't pay retail. They're nothing special. Smelly, blotchy toddler-ish colors, don't photograph as well as some better ones. But black is black, right?

A thread just popped up on Sportsshooter about how Amvona is a rip off.

Like I said, don't pay retail. Anyone who pays their inflated non-eBay prices needs a little IQ viagra...

I am just looking for a new black bg and it seemed the velour would be a good choice.

so they are ok on ebay or skip them and get something different all together? if skip them then who would be a good choice (just want black)?

I bought a very functional piece of black fabric at a fabric store, 100 inches wide and as long as you want to buy for about $2.50 a yard. Its some kind of synthetic. so not too much trouble with wrinkles.

I picked up a nice black fabric for about the equivalent of $30 USD...

It was a nice material, I got about 10ft by 20ft and I love the material so much I'm thinking about making myself a blazer and some pants (although it serves as a great background)....

Just go to a local fabric store, you're bound to find something cheaper.
Doesn't have to be velour or velvet etc... Try to look for something not so shinny but also something that won't fade if you wash it, but again black is black, and if you're lights are blasting onto the background chances are you'll do fine with any fabric.

If you're looking for just black, go to a fabric store - e.g. Joanns. I bought both white and black 120" x 140" for about $18 each, but that was with a %50 off coupon.
