I shot an FMer! Not with a gun, with a camera silly. Marius has been an FMer since 2005 and has NEVER made a post. Dude, come on, at least break the silence with this post of you and the lovely bride to be.
Both had model looks and were quite easy to shoot. I did some of my favorite day poses to date with these guys. I also did some of my personal favotite night shots with them as well.
BIG thats to FMer Bryan that came out to help on this one. Dude was fun to work with - beeyaman! You had to be there. There a shot of him below standing in for the couple while I test the Pdubs. Sorry for the crap shot Bryan, i didn't even focus you. best one i had - beeyaman
Stuff I used:
5D
40D
70~200 IS 2.8
50mm 1.4
17~40 4.0 <<<<-------Bryan's
Speedlights, reflectors, shoot through ums, sun, beeyaman!
Sam . . . why the heck are you up this early posting more and more amazing work? Do you ever sleep or do you just sit up all day planning every shoot to make us all look bad? You don't get paid enough
I love all the daytime shots, so clean, pure and elegant. Their emotions are just amazing.
Okay so I'm up because I work nights and I was excited that there was a new post this early!!! Beautiful work Sam, I love that you told us your secret for the smoke shot, I think it turned out fantastic!
Dude, do you you realize you didn't start numbering these until #15? Hahah! I thought that was kinda funny, i guess you posted these just a little too early, maybe before the first cup of coffee or something?? Regardless, they are amazing!! I love how you start a pose trend get everyone doing it then switch it up just to show us that you are a master! I am speaking of #1 and #3. Great, really great!
Oh and how about showing us the real ring shot too? With that setup it has to be Awesome!
This proves once and for all why you're the most creative person alive.
The good:
-3 and 4 are brilliant just for their creativity and simplicity.
-Your rain shot is way better than mine.
-13= coolest shot ever. Did you ask the skater to come over?
The bad:
Now you know I never critique without saying something bad... but this is your best work. Honestly, it's perfect....
...and you can bet I'm expecting you to fly me out to 2nd shoot.
I don't usually like to comment... I really don't feel that I'm qualified to give much feedback at all. I can't tell you how inspired I feel right now by looking at your work... sometimes I get down on myself for my own lack of imagination... these images inspire me to think of how I might do things to improve my photography. Some might say that I'm just emulating "the man"... and I'm really okay with that.
I'm actually in Lake Tahoe shooting wedding here and have the worst headache. I'm gonna be miserable for the wedding. Thanks for the love peeps. I'll hit this back later when I can concentrate.
shot 1-i like the shot but with her arm as part of the shot (and since it's cut off), the crop feels kind of tight-without the arm, i wouldn't mind it
series 2-love these shots-great staple of most of your sets
shot 3-looks strobed-honestly, the shadows are bothering me but the composition and tender emotion she's showing could cancel that out for me-so we're back to even
shot 4-killer shot-couldn't think of ANY better use of flare-so perfect, my friend
shot 5-love these-both of them emphasize the connection between them and they're both very "cute"-is the couple one of those "cute, in love couples"? that's what you captured here
shot 6-beautiful-and nice set up shot as well
shot 7-nice-flare is YOUR FRIEND
shot 8-love this type of shot-another staple of yours from past shoots-love it
shots 9-11-well done
shot 12-love this-i'd like to see a b&w of it-color's a bit strange
shot 14-like action and environment in e-sessions-do you have any where the skater is EVEN MORE blurred?
shot 15-dude-seriously-you're pulling mad scientist stuff now-my question is, how did the couple react when you told them you'd be lighting smoke bombs?
18-dude, maybe all this work has you crackin' up-vacation?
sam, beautiful set as always-get some rest! just my two, bud
Do you crop in camera or do you do it in post?
I find whenever I'm shooting, I tend to try and capture everything and not cut anything off, then when it comes to post, i feel so uneasy to crop it because i feel like i took that shot composed as it was
uuuhhh.. not fair. when everyone lined up and God was giving out photography talent. I think .... er .. NO I know that Sam got his own portion and MINE as well.. You BOOGER SAM ! give it back.... pretty please with a beeyaman on top?
This is by far THE best E-session from you, no joke. Not only are you raising the bar for the rest of us, but you're actually doing it to yourself man. The question is, how are you going to outdo yourself next Yikes. Seriously, these are incredible.
3, 5, 6, 8, 9, 11, 12... too many to list man. Your money shot without a doubt goes to 15... my jaw hit the floor literally when I saw that shot. Smoke bombs? You're insanely clever. I also love #3, such a personal shot showing the closeness. Only critiqueish advice I can offer is to tone down the yellow a bit on 12.
You're still the king in my book Hasass. I should just pack up, move to Cali, and become your assistant
Sam.... Vaaaaaary Niiiiiice!! Once again I had a blast working with you man. We'll have to do it again sometime. By the way my hands smelled like those damn smoke bombs for 2 days. But hey after seeing the outcome of the photo it was all worth it. Crap I still need to post up my photos Good luck in Tahoe and remember to "BeeYaaaaMaaan!"
