p.1 #1 · need some advice

Hello everyone! I have a 430ex that I got a few weeks ago. I'm still learning with it. I think I'm okay with using it to balance with the ambient indoors, I think. But I want to get my flash off the camera! Without having to purchase a 550, 580, or st-e2 in the near future what are my options. I've been looking at off camera shoe flashes as the way to go. Am I right? I'm wanting to go wireless too. Are there any good brands out there that won't break my budget like the PW right now? I'm just a little perplexed right now, but that might be from the lack of sleep in the past few days! Anyways, what I'm trying to do is to black out the background completely and just have the light right on my subject's face. I can darken the background somewhat but nowhere near being blacked out. I hope I have given enough info on what I'm looking for.

Black velvet as a backdrop can help....

Paramount cords get most flashes off camera. they will make the length you want. In Brooklyn.

i hate cords but use my paul buff triggers on my canon flashes with no problem

i use a cst and a csrb
don't have a 430 but i came with everything i need for the 580ii

keep in mind you will have to set the flash to all manual with these

Thanks Papageno and Todd. I had initially thought about getting a black backdrop but I'm wanting to put the flash close to my subject to make a black background just with that. I just heard about the ebay and Gadget Infinity triggers for around 30 dollars or so. I just don't know how reliable they are, but I guess for 30 bucks it's not going to break the bank account.
