jerrykur Offline Dedicated FM Upload & Sell: On p.1 #1 · How is 5DMK2 battery life? Now that people are getting their cameras, how has the battery life been? Chance a $5 battery leakage in a $2700 body? Look at it this way, you get a Canon battery for 75 bucks, and IF that happens, you call one place about it (and they can't say "oh well we can't help that's not our product")..............Canon. But no choice I had a wedding and no one else have it in stock. So I bought it in case I ran out of battery. So with that said.. I did my first wedding. I used lens with IS (since IS use more battery life). The first battery drained after the ceremony with. I don't have the total count on the first battery. But the wedding I shot 1200 shot on this body and the second battery only showed 1/3 power drained. Hope this helps. I'm getting 3rd party battery when they become available. LP-E6 man. You put a lot of faith into Canon service... I've had other experience plus I've never had my Sterlingteks fail on me and prefer them way-way-way above Canon's over-costly options. Granted, they cost twice the $5 mentioned earlier. I'm talking 5D prices here, but if I had the chance I'd wait for their offering for the 5DII before buying into the horrendously prices Canon battery. These new batteries are a bit different in the way they are designed and communicate back with the camera... Wonder how long it'll take 3rd parties to catch up. That said... I have 2 Canon batteries. I shot a bunch of video last weekend and went through slightly over 2 batteries. I charged the 1st while using the second. I was using a combination of IS and non-IS lenses. Video mode with IS definitely drains the battery. We did a lot of shooting over the course of about 10hrs. But mostly in sub 1min segments and lots of time between takes. FWIW.. Gil_W Offline Upload & Sell: Off p.1 #8 · How is 5DMK2 battery life? I posted this on the 5D mkII thread earlier today: Nobody asked but it seems like the battery life is very good with the 5D mkII. I have 916 actuations, 90% were RAW and 10% the infamous sRAW, have taken 4 short video and the camera still shows 30% charge left. I have the camera set to go to sleep after 4 minutes and a review time of 4 sec which I will be turning to off. LP-E6 man. Sure. I put 3rd batteries in my 5D MK1, which was $3000+ camera. I also put them in my 1dMK2 which was a $4000 camera. The 3rd parties work better than the batteries from Canon.
