nikon/canon are supposed to be for the original owner only, but most say if you have the receipt you are good to go. mack warranties are transferable, as are best buy extended warranties.
So, strictly speaking, neither the Nikon nor the Canon warranty is transferable. But from my experiance you donīt have a problem, as long as you have the original receipt.
Nope, Canon flat out told me that the warranty states right on the card that it is for the original owner, but they said it is up to the service center to honor or not honor the warranty. Everything I've ever sent in with the original receipt and warranty card from the previous owner has been taken care of without question.
I've had no problem with Canon on warranty work with an original receipt (which had someone else's name on it). In fact, my camera was a few months out of warranty but they fixed it as a courtesy in warranty.
