p.1 #1 · Canon Speedlight Flash Bracket

Guys

I would like to mount my Canon Speedlight on a bracket to get it off the hotshoe. At £150 the Canon version seems pricey. Has anybody found good alternatives? The Strob gadget is a monster and obviously the designer has never heard the term 'ergonomics'.

Cheers

The Canon version isn't well designed anyway.

The primary objective is hiding as many shadows as possible, the second is the make the one which can be seen, like the nose shadow, non-distracting by causing it to fall straight down in a full face view..

or directly behind the nose in an oblique view...

The best way to meet those two objectives is to use a camera-flip bracket that will keep the flash 12-18" directly above the lens at all times. The one shown below is the most basic Stroboframe model with a DIY diffuser

I like the Custom Bracket QRS-35 bracket. Sturdy but easy to handle and stable when set on a table. The camera rotates easily to keep the flash directly above the lens.
