I was shooting a basket ball game and caught this little girl while she was reciting the pledge of allegiance. I thought she looked so sweet I had to do a portrait of her. (Going to give her mom a copy.) I did this in PS by painting the BG black and used various brushes to painter her, but used the airbrush for her hair and charcoal brushes for her shirt.
Thanks 4 looking!

Ah ... Susi. Every time I see that you have posted I know it will be an inspiration ... this one is no exception ... makes me want to keep working hard to achieve anything even close ... thanks for sharing ... George =)
PS I'm interested in learning more about the "airbrush" technique that you used on her hair ... very cool results.
Thanks so much George! I used the sponge brush in the dark areas of her hair and then switched to the #100 airbrush on 40% opacity and using a very small tip I just squiggled around the edge(and some within) to give a back light look.
Hope this helps!
I really like this -- I find it quite captivating and feel drawn to study her face. Nice work indeed.
There seems to be an aberration/artifact just to the left of her right eye in the dark field that I find a bit distracting. Clean that up and you're golden in my opinion.
Susi - you're an inspiration. I'm going to buy your DVDs as soon as I get my lightroom training done. Your processing on portraits is exceptional.
I look forward to all your posts.
I like what you did with her shirt, it's different. But I don't know if that's a good thing cuz I find myself staring more at the shirt then her face where the focus should be. regardless, it's still excellent work, I'm sure her mother will cherish it.
