I bought the 1.8 about 5days ago figuring for the price difference that the 1.4 wouldn't be worth it. Boy was I wrong. Two days later I ordered the 1.4 just to try it and see if it was worth it....Lets just say the 1.8 is going back tomorrow! I am very impressed with the quality and already consdering the 1.2 which I am sure will amaze me even more. Anyways, I just got the lens this evening and took some quick snap shots. Let me know what you think. I haven't loaded Adobe CS4 on my MacBook Air yet (which I am on right now), So I did very minor editing with some software that came with my Canon.
In theory, the difference between an 1.8 and a 1.4 should just be that the 1.4 is more sensitive to light. Thus 1/100 with 1.8 might be possible with 1/50 with the 1.4. And then if you are using handheld it should look sharper.
1.4 vs 1.8 should by itself should not make any other difference.
I am not sure what your question is, but the text and pictures above are too large to see. And I am not sure you are asking a question.

I apologize for posting in the wrong forum, feel free to move it to the appropriate section or remove it entirely. I was just amazed at the difference. I did multiple shots of the same subject and object under the same conditions and I could truly tell a big difference. With the 1.4, the picture just seemed so much sharper and more vibrant. I assumed the glasses that are use in the 1.4 lens is not the same as the 1.8. Again I apologize for posting in the wrong section, but I was very excited with my in acquisition. I hope you all can understand
