p.1 #1 · Snowy at sunset

I was at West Dennis today, I got a bunch and stayed till sunset so
I could get him on a post with the red sky as a BG but I had a 500 with a 2X
on and then also tried stacking the TEs and they are not to bad but I have
many to go through. At one point when I was returning from the beach where
I first saw him I started up the board walk and 50 feet from me there he is, sitting
on a post, but he gave me no time for a posed photo but I may have got a
sensor on him as he put the air under his wings. All are FF but added some canvas on the last few to bring him off center. He ai a good 5 to 600 feet.

Lovely series Lou.

I am so envious of you & the Snowies. My favorite owl.

OH, what was your old film Nikon cameras? I just got my new Nikon FM. I had two when I was much younger & both got stolen. Neither my fault. Cause someone breaking into my apartment can hardly be considered my fault.

I'm so excited. I'm bringing it out with me next time I go out with my 50mm AiS f/1.2 for some film shots. Now I need to buy a 20 or 24mm lens.....

Thanks Karl its reall something when you think about it, taking a photo of an object about 24 inches from this distance and you can make it out. Actually the original is quite clear at 100%. I ran it through that Topaz software.

Thanks Lil as for the nikon I started with the FujiS1Pro then on to the S2 Fuji and then I bouught 3 D70s when they first came out cause I liked them so much and they were really cheap so I figured it was better to throw one out after it was worn out or broke than the lose of a more expensive body. Please remember in those days I was hiking into some serious eagle territory and a slip was quite common so looseing a D70 was not alll that bad.I did later go for a D2H and later got really mad at Nikon when they dumped the price on the D2H from about $3800.00 to about $1850.00. I still have one D70 with less than about 8000 photos from it and several F2.8 lens. I like Nikon and I think its a better quality glass and camera body for ease of use. You have to have both to realize the difference. My old 300 2.8 has a tripod movement that feel like it turns on ball bearings and it is a 1986. I also have a like new D mount 80 to 200 2.8 with all the paper, boxs and cases that go with it. both of these lens have only 4 contcts but do AF but from the camera not in the lens like the newer VRG which I also have 2 of and one is the 70 to 200VRG which I bet I have not taken 400 photos with. Now aren't you glad you ask

Excellent job catching it's backside, Lou Nello would be proud!

You must be really pleased to get these opportunities. I doubt I will ever get a chance to see them and envy you access to them.

Thanks Tim and my wagon is all packed, the coffee pot is set to turn on and my lunch is all made and if the weather is good I will be heading north to Duxbury as I hear of 4 snowys there and this time I packed my 800mm and 500mm. Don't know why as I get my best photos from the 1 to 400 and my 40D I'm on my own if I go, the old man and the snowy

Yeah Ken I know what you mean as I hate getting a tail photo but somebodys got to do it. I never was in snowy territory till now but I have tried here when I would visit my son but they are not like the osprey as they are on a vacation from the very cold. One thing about the tail photo did you notice the plumage and how far down the leg it goes? I read that the ones that don't live on the tundra don't get that same protection from the cold. This guy you can hardley see a talon for the feathers so I did get something from this tail photo.
