p.1 #1 · Getting my wireless set up to work

So I tried searching and maybe my search terms were wrong, but I'm completely new to this whole wireless lighting thing so don't flame me for this.

I can't figure out what I need to get my Vivitar 285 HV to work with my ebay triggers.

I bought these triggers.

These.

I'm sure its simple and I'm just not seeing it.
Thanks for your time.

I think you need these, because of Vivitar pin connection :

There is also another solution which also solves the problem of mounting the flash to a stand:

That is a generic PC - Hot Shoe extender, available at most photo stores like Ritz for under $10, shown below with a Wein Peanut optical trigger.

I just snipped off the PC end and soldered on a mini-phone plug (mono) from Radio Shack. You can also buy them pre-made from Flash Zebra for about $20.

For tips on using your flashes click the WWW button below for my tutorlals.

Exactly...

or this:

or get this:

Vivitar sync cable

and cut the male pc connector off the end. Then cut the mono plug tip off your ebay receiver and splice the proprietary Vivitar connector onto the loose wire from your ebay receiver.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I'm going to go attempt to splice the wires because the Vivitar flash came with a pc-vivitar adapter as shown in the post above.

Just a quick follow up. I spliced the wires and everything works perfectly. Thanks for the help.
