I even had one guy ask to borrow my strobes (and PW trigger). I complied and even helped him set up the right aperture, wb and shutter speed. I'm waiting for the day someone asks to borrow my D3 so they can take a shot on their flash card I did a wedding a few weeks back as a portrait photographer and when the hired pro walked in and saw me standing there with about $20K worth of high end Nikon gear et al the look on her face was priceless. I have to admit, though, that the latest Sharapova commercial (Canon) is absolutely hilarious. It takes a good sport to make fun of yourself in a commercial. Beats the old ones -- they did well to build on their own commercials.
