Wow, that's one heck of a sky! And the brain shapes are always fun - did you get any with stronger foreground elements as well?

The place I choose to be was difficult to find much, but I tried. I was caught by surprise on the amount of color

Hello Phil,

Beautiful color indeed, and the late light did wonderful things to smooth the textures of the otherwise 'hard' elements. Very well done.

Hey Phil,

Super shot indeed! I really like that first one. Wonderful shapes in the rock, and you just have to love all of that color!

First one still does it for me

I know how it's tough to get good foregrounds there without making compromises in the rest of the comp.

Wow Phil, those are awesome! The first one looks a little too red...er, something is off. Maybe it's too dark and too colorful, simultaneously? The top of the image is so dark that it feels like the color shouldn't be that intense up there. I dunno, I'd try to play with it a little more. Love the second one too.

1 is nutso. Is that a blend? There are no gnd lines at all. Wicked sky/color. And the comp really works well here. 2 is good too but prefer 1

Thanks everyone.

These are a single shot - not blends. I did use a 2 stop soft lee grad. Both have the reds toned now 10%. It was that colorful with the reds and reflected light. I will see if I can light up the top sky of #1, but I thought it looks more like it was on my original.

Phil, I was going to say, it looks like the effects of a grad. I've always thought this can look as unnatural as any modern pp technique (even Rowell published some shots with this look). Just thought I'd throw in my two cents. I think if you brightened it up a bit it would look more natural and still retain that awesome color.
