*In light of the recent CF card deal posts, I figured I'd throw another one out for the WP crowd. I hope this is appropriate for this forum. If not, mods please delete or move.*
Stopped by my local Circuit City which has had "STORE CLOSING" signs up for a couple of weeks. Was looking for random deals, maybe a new laptop. Nothing of note caught my eye in the camera department, as even at 15% off, most stuff was more than B&H or Adorama, and I especially don't trust Big Box display models. After wandering for another 45 minutes, I had two CD's in my hand (40% off, BTW). Made one last swing by the camera shelves, and something caught my eye in the glass case.
YES! $909.99 for a BRAND NEW 35L! I checked it out, definitely brand new. Only flaw was that the hood was missing. But even if I buy it separately, and after Chicago's ridiculous taxes, it's still a good $150 cheaper than anywhere else. Sorry about the bragging, but the real point to this post was to tell y'all to go check out your local CC if it's closing. Might be some good deals to score.

I already went to our closing CC and there wasn't a darned thing worth even looking at in their camera section. There were some rebels and kit lenses and a couple of the cheap 70-300mm ones. Definitely no L lenses!! Granted, I don't think anyone around here would know what to do with an L lens and if they did, they wouldn't be looking at our circuit city.

I had no idea CC carried L lenses. As concerns their store closings, I care not a whit, I was never impressed with Circuit City on any level.

I just popped into a CC to check out the "40% off sale" and found a Canon 100mm macro. Sitting on top of a display, tethered by a security wire, no caps, looks like someone has been playing hockey with it...$419. What a joke.

It was probably an open box return and thats why they had it on sale....Most of the good stuff simply gets shuffled to the stores that are remaining open. Why wouldnt they? There isnt that much mark up to start with on higher end stuff like this.
