I had the absolute pleasure of spending the Friday after Tday with Herderdog(Bonnie). My wife and I met up with her over on her side of pond (Puget Sound) and she was gracious enough to play tour guide and show some of her favorite places to find the birds. We spent the day around the Port Townsend area, an area of Washington that is quite wild and very beautiful. Being so wild the animals are extremely wary. It was a joy to go out in nature with someone like minded. From the minute we hit the ground we were working the birds in the same fashion. Sneaking up and doing our best to get close. The weather wasn't the best but we did manage to see a lot. Bonnie did point out some firsts for me, that is always a great thing.
Tim, where is the fog? I guess no fog on Bonnie's side of the pond. It is nice to see members getting together and doing some quality shooting.
Beautiful set! That first shot got to be one of the best Sea gull shots I ever seen. Great control of the exposure, lighting and has a nice feel! The Northern Pintail and the last two shots are my favorite. Clean shots for an ISO of 1250.

Hey there, Tim!
It was great to meet you and your wife. I am so glad we got to see a few things, inspite of the pretty poor conditions.
Did you have any luck the next day?
I'll try to get some images from the day posted--but my copy of LR won't work tonight. It says the Beta Version has expired. Wassup with that?
You teamed up with a great gal from what I have seen here on FM Tim, always fun to mash some shooting styles together. Sorry about the dismal light but I think you got yourself dialed in very nicely.
I think those pintails are a beautiful duck, glad you got to see them The first sandpiper shot is my favorite of the three.
So did you try to rent a Yak and get Bonnie in while you were there

you got together for an outing.
Thanks Dave! We did see a big variety the only problem was the light. We did have a great time together and I do indeed look forward to doing it again. She is a marvelous gal.

Socrate, the fog showed up the next day big time!!! (I still got some great shots, better than these that day)
Oh it is so great to meet up with someone that has the same style, lighter lens, stalking and working the birds.
Thanks for the kind words my friend!
The gull, nabbed that guy while waiting for the drizzle to subside. Kind of a lucky shot.
The sandpipers were a blast to shoot, we were laughing the whole time as they ran by!!
Tim
PS this is an edit. I find the fact that you like the last two shots the best quite interesting. At first those were the only two I was going to post. Maybe I should have stopped at those! Well that and the gull.

Ah there you are
I was wondering if you were just setting me up to see what I had!! Just kidding. The next day kind of sucked, we only had good conditions in PT, after that fog and clouds. No yellow billed loon
Still I keep looking back at the places you showed us and all I can say is WOW. Even if the birds didn't play nice the locations are amazing.

Jeez buddy, you sure danced around this set! Is it that bad?
I do have better pintails from the next day along with some other shots. I wanted to play fair with Bonnie, post just what we shot together and post the day after later.
Oh we had fun together and Bonnie is a fantastic person to shoot with.
Yak, well it was on the car the whole time. The next day Marla and I headed out with all intentions of using the yak but the weather was so iffy it wasn't worth going out.
Very nice set Tim, and looks like you all had a wonderful time together. How do you like your 50D? I see you have done lots of 1000 ISO plus captures and it looks very good "websize", can you rate the ISO performance of 50D?
Ok back home now
Maaan light was bad indeed I don't even go out usually w light like this! I have like a mental block for higher than ISO 800 light condition must be old habits from the XT
I like the sandpipers the most here! great angle and nice dof ! still managed to capture good details even at ISO 1000!
#1 is good too but the whites look blueish on my monitor
Hey remember Bonnie's spots so we can give'em a try next summer or do we have to pay her any rights?
Was thinkin' the other day maybe we can all get together for a shoot next summer: me,you,Bonnie,Jay,Tom. Sounds like a pack of wolves we'll chase the life out of those birds
beautiful series & it looks like you managed real well in the light you had. I've already posted this to Bonnie, but here you get is as well. When Ross & I come up to WA next I'm really hoping to meet up with you, Marla & Bonnie. Ross will spend the day with his mother in Port Angeles.
Pintail is for some reason my favorite - - it just speaks to me.....
