p.1 #1 · Studies in Sepia and Antique Greyscale

Hello all,

Have started playing about with the "creative" side of things in LR and GIMP recently. The following two images are initial attempts at using Antique Greyscale and Sepia tones. The Isle of Wight rendition is on request - I forget by whom - in the Landscape forum.

Comments welcome. There are some more toning examples here

Hi Mirza, I quite like the first shot. I would suggest you consider cloning the bird silhouettes that break into the sky from the water.
Also, the "parts" that break the edges of the frame. I think it will give you an even stronger comp.
I like the toning of the second, and the comp.

Two fine attempts. In terms of visual impact, the first is much stronger.

I actually enjoy the second shot much more. You've done a fine job in the toning for sure, but I wonder what this one looks like in straight black/white.

All, many thanks for your comments. I will try and clone out some of the bits of birds of on the extreme right hand side for more impact. Thanks again for looking.

i really like the first shot. personally, though, i would clone some of the birds into the upper left, to balance out the framing.

but that's picking nits. cheers.
