Hi,
I had the opportunity to shoot my first model from MM last weekend.
This model is starting and I think she has good skills. Here there are some of her pictures. Please, give you comments and critics,
Thank you,
Luis
I think you have found a nice looking young lady here. And depending on the market that she's looking to get into, may be able to get some work. As you know it's a competitive game and she has to be willing to work very hard to enjoy a career as a model.
Image 1 - I'm sorry, but there are a lot of issues for me here. I like the hair in the wind look, but you have to make sure that the light and the wind are working together, which is not the case here. There's too many shadow issues on her face, which should always be sharp, clean and nicely lit to show it off properly. I'm also not liking the desaturation on this one a whole bunch. I do like desaturation, but in this case it looks like an attempt to fix a problem.
Image 2 - This is MUCH Better! It shows her nice face and smile, and really shows off her legs nicely. There are a few minor posing issues mostly around hand placement (which I always have trouble with as well!) but this will make an excellent image for her starting portfolio. Well done!
Image 3 - Nice light and colour - but the pose - I just can't quite put my finger on it. There's SOMETHING wrong here, but I'm not sure how to put it in words. If she were in my studio and I was looking at this pose, I'd start from the feet and work my way up and rebuild the pose completely to find something more pleasing. I'm just not able to say that it's any one item. It's close... but it's off. Know what I mean?
I hope that you will take theses as they are intended - opinions and suggestions - and realize that they are meant to help you to see what I see.
Thanks njw,
I change the #1, for the original color; now is #3. I did not know how to keep the original order. I understand your point on the light and wind, I will take care of that next time.
All your comments will help me a lot.
Luis
Image #1 - nice expression - hand position not the best - by crossing her legs made her thighs look bigger than they really are - hair tie on left wrist
Image #2 - no expression from the model -
Image #3 - is that a hair tie around her left wrist - looks soft - eyes look like they are in the shade but nose & lips are not - model looks made

I think you'll find that's a braclet or bangle around her wrist, not a hair tie...
That is correct Inga. It is not a hair tie.
I understand I have to be more careful about any accessory. I asked her to remove them, but that one stay for the whole session.
please take my comments for what they are worth. They are just my amateur observations.
1. that angle makes her bottom and legs look very large compared to her face.I'm not sure the dress does her any favors.
2. does a very good job of showing her nails to me, but the lack of energy in her face does not make me connect with her. Distracts from the image. The lighting looks pretty good but maybe a little bright to the back.
3.clipping of the left elbow, highlight appears to be to the right arm and the face appears to be slightly dark/too many shadows to me.
I hope these comments are helpful, thanks for letting me look.
