starting to unpack the Christmas ornaments and decided it was a good time to grab some shots of my daughter. dressed, minimal drool and looking at the camera; i should say a job well done but i would love some c&c.

thanks for looking.

Nikon D90, 18-105mm with two strobes.

Hi
Cute kid. Cute picture (#1).

My Simple Suggestion: Clone off that dark object growing out of her head.

Second image shows a cute expression.

I don't care for the "color/tone" of the BW (but I do think BW would be nice) and I do suggest a "Square" crop/frame for this shot.

Have a merry Christmas trimming time.

Steady - Thanks! Will work on that clone job. I was a little concerned that the ornament right being out of focus kind of ruined the shot as well as the flooring being very hot to the right. As far as number 2 I had played with a few crops and b/w tones but I will def check out a few more. Thanks again for the comments and I hope you have a merry season as well.

Might look cool with a bunch more ornaments and very simple background (carpet only, or carpet and wall). Just MHO.

Hi J.

Try this:

Take the second image.

Crop to Square format.

Select everything around the head (the blanket) and fill with white.

Post the results side by side with the original.

Reason: the BW may be fine as is. But the surrounding gray blanket is causing the child to "get lost" in the sea of gray. Change to White and allow the face to "Pop" forward in the image. It will appear (once cropped and changed) as if the face is coming out to the viewer.

Cute kid.
