I took advantage of a break in the rain to get some shooting done. If the forecast is correct I'll be looking for a very old man with a very large boat by Sunday...
Shot at life size to twice life size with a Canon MPE-65mm macro lens. I used a pair of Kaiser adjustable flash shoes to elevate the flash heads on the MT-24EX.
Still some hot reds in those shots, but considering that I was shooting in brutal sunlight elevating the flash heads seemed to help a lot. The Kaiser's aren't keyed for the MT-24EX's flash mount but I fixed that by cutting two groves in the bottom of both of them with a Dremel tool so they lock in place now.
@ Brian: This set is warm, but I like the colors. I'm probably going to leave the 1/8 CTO on the MT-24EX's flash heads but bring the temp down to 4800 or so in post. It's a cheap trick that's letting me recover the red channel if it's too hot...
There was so much ambient light in those scenes that I could make out the flowers if the flash didn't fire at 2x...
Check out the background in frame 4. Elevating the flash heads allowed me to light a lot more of the background than normal.
