[same again - I had to ctrl click and open in sepearate window and download to see the picture]

Presuming that I am seing what you intended - 3 men with crosses on.

My reaction is - whats going on. Two looking forward, one sideways, frame through at odd spot and very tight on right and left on men.

It leaves me confused rather than feeling a mood.

Thanks scott,
I see what you mean by the tightness on the guys on the left and the right, i will look into that.

Thanks for bringing up the whole ctrl click thing, I had to url link it... these are my first posts here so I am not to sure on the whole embedding the picture thing.

As for leaving you confused I'm sorry, i guess i will have to preface this a little. This is for a Worship Arts Class, so the mood or theme is found in the story that it tells. I don't want to preach a sermon to you, but that is why it may be confusing to you... What I guess i am looking for is technical... and my main question would be would this be too dark when printed?

if any one wants to take a stab at what this picture's story is I would be interested in what you think.

I like the image though, but i think one probably needs to know the context to understand it fully

Scott,

What is the emotion you feel confused about looking at these men?

It kind of reminded me of the scene when Jesus were crossified together with two other men on each of his side.

This was my first impulsive thought when i saw the picture without knowing anything other than the title.

I liked it, however, I couldn't see the whole picture without scrolling to the side. But perhaps my screen is just too small

Sorry Pauelv, the project is going to be 36 inches wide so that is probably why it won't fit on your screen. It's actually 3 pictures taken separately then put together in one project to help maintain detail on the subjects. Good work on your first impulse, the story goes a little deeper though.

Still i am worried about if this is too dark for printing. i have a 24 inch imac with the glossy glass screen so it is very difficult to see all of the details.

nlkatsma,

I like your imagery. Its lit up appropriately and has a commendable level of
darkness. I like the composition as well, because it looks balanced.

As to the "message" or iconic imagery? Well being that I am a Jewish boy
this interpretation may be suspect...lol. I would call it the "unholy trinity"
(just kidding).

Clearly these folks are relating/sporting the symbol of their religion. Imagery
wise this reminds me of the Christian Rock band addicts/participants.

PS. Btw, Scott is nice people. He is predictible though. His comment here
is in character for him. Some folks just have a problem with anything that
is slightly abstract or strays from the idea that an image must tell a story.
Just flow with it Scott and you'll be fine.

Confusion - what are they looking at and why is why looking sideways and why do they have a cross on their back.

I agree with Kaden that I am predictable - I am just giving you my reaction in case it is useful.

Relative to your question. Pictures always print darker then they show on the screen. I looked at a freinds imac pictures and they were even brighter than my powermac g5 with daewoo monitors. So a lot depends on how bright you have it turned up. Usually what I do is print is; automatically increase the brightness from what I see on the screen and then print it small for a buck or two at 5x7 and then if that works I print it large. [I do this at Walmart too Kaden - inside joke]

I have no opinion on the image except technically I find it appealing.

As an aside, until I finally set aside stubbornness and bought a calibration device (Spyder2 fwiw) I found trying to 'visually' balance monitor images versus printed images, whether home-grown or commercial, to be an exercise in futility and waste of resources.

So, if printing is really a deal-breaker and this is permitted, I suggest getting a calibration app of some kind, and a commercial lab's printer profile so you're not taking pot shots in the dark (no pun intended). I have read the Cosco will provide a profile, don't know about WalMart, CVS, Walgreen's etc...
