I've been working through scanning some old family photos -- mostly in pretty poor condition and have run across some real beauties(none photographed by me), but I also ran across an unusual sequence (for back then and my family's photos) of photos taken of at my brother's birthday before I was born. The images (or at least 3 of 4) are nothing special but tell an amazing story, maybe even to people outside the family who don't know how this series parallels later events.
In any case I post it as an exercise of something I had not tried before but was very pleasently surprised with the results:

I have been collecting and scanning old family photos as well. It is interesting to see the differences in how people value old photographs. Some of my cousins are very enthusiastic and others are completely indifferent. I have been posting what I find on-line for the whole family to share. I am sure there are many more images that will be lost.
