p.1 #1 · help with a portfolio... | |
I'm thinking of submitting some photos to one of the local galleries for their consideration. They're a fairly well respected gallery, and this is probably ridiculous hubris, but I thought I'd give it a try. My problem is twofold: first off, I don't really know how many images to submit. They request that submissions be done digitally (on CD) so technically, there's enough space for quite a few images, but I'm not sure how many are too many. Secondly, it turns out that winnowing down to a few shots is harder than I thought. As it turns out, I'm a little attached to my photos, so I'm probably a little less objective than I could be. My wife has put her two cents it, but I'm still sitting at about 40 images. I don't know if that's a good number though. I had an initial set of about 160 images. Here's a gallery (http://www.pbase.com/manzico/potential_submissions) containing that first crack at pairing things down. And here is another gallery (http://www.pbase.com/manzico/final_submissions) with what is currently my final set.
If you folks don't mind I'd love to get your take on my current set of images, and I'd also like to know if you think I should have chosen differently from my first larger set of images (or even some that just sit in my overall gallery on Pbase).
It's a lot of images, but if you get a chance to skim through at least the smaller gallery (that's the second one), it would be greatly appreciated.
thanks,
Dave
