On the rear the black area is that original or placed there by the company that did the convertion

There is no adapter involved in this conversion.
The black end is the aperture ring placed during conversion.

I'm not sure whether I'll keep the lens or not.
It's very heavy, and I fear that I may not use it much.

If I decide to sell it, what would be a reasonable price for this lens?
