I just had my FD 300/2.8 converted and he made a nice custom front cap too..!
When I'm back to the state, I'll post some pictures.
It's pretty tough to hand hold the lens because of the weight of the lens, but so far the lens is very promising.
Despite of its used exterior condition, the glass looks immaculate.
I'm so excited...!!!
Did the conversion manage to maintain all electronic communication, as you had hoped, or is the lens functioning like any other alt glass with a chipped adapter?

It's 100% manual lens with EOS mount.
I intend to use it wide open all the time.
why wide open all the time?
need to stop down sometimes in a bright day light. Paul Yi wrote:

Did you manage to mantain the aperture lever working?
Will you have a DIY for it like Cogitech's Rokkor Page? ;-)
If so, I might buy a BGN lens like it for $250-ish around... :-)

I'm sorry for the newbie question, but what is DIY?
Aperture lever is no problem...

Hmm. Still pretty cool.
I think actually that it was someone else who recently posted about this, not you. The idea was that somehow 'erother all communication could be maintained. Maybe that was the thread concerning using a modded an FD TC 1.4 instead of modding the lens. Hmmm, my brain is fuzzy today.
(this is still pretty cool)
Anyway, as the others said- Why did you lose aperture control?

That would be me. I got it to work with my almost-free test Yashica 2x converter mounted in reverse, but I have not continued further testing since I took delivery of a massive Kilfitt 600/5.6 and since I don't have a sharp FD lens for testing. Also, for much better results I would like to use a Mutar 1.4x T* converter, which I have not been able to locate one cheap. So, for the time being I have put the idea on the back burner. But I did achieve infinity focus and beyond due to the registry distances, and overshooting infinity didn't bother me.
Paul, I do like to get more details on where you had your lens converted. I am going back and forth between FD 300/2.8 L idea vs. saving for a Tamron AF 300/2.8 for faster moving subjects.
that's a great price you paid

I had the lens converted here in Korea.
Aperture dial works perfectly.
I'll try to upload some pictures when I get back to the states.
