p.1 #1 · Which Voigtlander for 5d?

I'm a little confused when it comes to Voigtlander's naming system, which ones will fit the 5D? I know lenses that are labeled "M Mount" will not for sure, but I'm assuming the screw mount lenses will work? I've found a 75 Color Helier on Craigslist that I'm interested in... any word on this lens?

Thanks!

Only the SL and SLII series lenses are adaptable to a 5D. The vast majority of Voigtlander's screwmount lenses are Leica Thread Mount for rangefinders, not M42 screwmount for SLR's. LTM lenses will NOT be adaptable to a 5D. That 75mm Colour Heliar is a Rangefinder lens and not adaptable to an SLR.

He should contact the seller and find out. The 75mm Heliar was made as an SLR lens as well. If it is a Pentax fit it is easy to adopt to Canon.

www.photozone.de for a review of some CV lenses on Nikon - including the 75. From my own experience, the 90 and 180 4 and 125 APO are outstanding. The 40/2 and 58/1.4 are well regarded. No experience with the 75.

the 40mm F2 SLII is a fantastic and adorable little lens. Great images spew from its rear element at an alarming pace.

the 58/1.4 SLII is also superb. I desire one.

I recommend getting the Nikon-F mount versions, not Pentax-K, as the Nikon mount can be adapted to EOS with no mods - the Pentax-K aperture control lever has to be removed to fit on a 5D. I use SL Color Heliar 75/2.5 and APO-Lanthar 180/4 CF ED lenses with my 5D; they're both excellent lenses that can produce beautiful images.

You can find links to lots of great info on Voigtlander SL and SL II lenses at the bottom of the prices page, at Stephen Gandy's CameraQuest: http://cameraquest.com/inventor.htm Did you know that there is an EOS-mount manual focus version of the SL APO-Lanthar 125/2.5 Macro, complete with auto-diaphragm? They're rare and expensive.

I believe this is the lens Paul/Cogitech shoots so many lovely images with. I have just ordered a 58 1.4. Canīt wait to try it out.

I also bought a CV 58mm SLII. With a 25% cashback, I couldn't resist....; less expensive than the Rokkor albeit at f/1.4.

How does the bokeh of the CV 58 1.4 compare to the Rokkor 58?
Anyone have any comparison shots?

They are all there when I click it, and yes, I knew Wee's samples were around here somewhere

Joshua,

Thanks for the link to Wee's comparison post of Topcor 58 vs. Zeiss 50 1.4 ZF.
From the few shots showing off the Topcor 58's bokeh, I still think I prefer the Rokkor 58's
bokeh as I think it is a bit smoother. Hard to say since there are no side-by-side comparison shots.

I am getting the Voigtlander in a couple of weeks. Will try to do some comparisons with the rokkor. However donīt hold your breath, I hate doing tests....

I have the CV 125 in OM mount and it works with adapter on 5D with obvious loss of autoaperture. That mount seems to go for less. It is very sharp with wonderful bokeh as depicted above. There is no tripod mount and it gets a bit subject to vibration at higher mags. I try and use a lead shot filled bag to dampen them---works great. The aperture prefire/MLU on OM4T is tied to the self-timer and that is not always convenient.
