Good eye to see that owl! Wow, that is very cool how it easily blends in to that knot on the tree. I am hoping to see some snowies soon, looks like you have located a hangout for them. Nice images, glad you shared.
thanks everyone, yes it is very hard to find usually you should get to know the bird watcher and explain to them that you won't disturb the bird in way. There is a unwritten rule from the bird watchers is that we don't tell anyone about the actual location of the owls but they will tell you if they have seen it. To find the screech owl is quite simple they are very inactive day time and just look for big hole in the tree use binocular of course and they usually return to the same spot. However at tommy thompson park toronto they all are very nice and show the exact location.
well it goes on sleeping for like 3 hours therefore I couldn't get any pics with eyes open. well need to come back for it some other times. probably next saturday. There are two snow owls reported today but one died

He looks so comfortable and peaceful. Makes me want to do the same....crawl into a hole and sleep for days in this economy.
Do you know how the other died?
Very nice picture BTW.

Two species of owl in one shoot. Lucky you. The screech owl is so well camouflaged that it is hard to see if not looking for it. Great captures.

Yes maybe next time Ray, I will try to go out everyweek on saturday at the spit to check on it will let you know.
Thanks everyone, I am just into birding recently still very inexperience the hard part is not about looking for birds but about asking the wife to let you go hehehe. I am trying to ask her to let me visit Wolfe and Amherst island in kington during christmas week.
