This image is an homage to Robert Sanders - a California based photographer who I've had the opportunity to work with and learn from on a couple of occassions, and whose work has inspired me a lot. Robert is working on a rope series and deserves the credit for the concept here.
Sarah is such a lovely model, who dreams of one day being in Playboy or other men's magazine like that. I don't tend to shoot in quite that style, but she was a good sport, playing along with the whole rope concept, and allowing my stylist and MUA Mallory to, effectively, tie her to the roof. Heh.
Lighting for this shot is similar to the lighting set up I described in the linked post above. Snooted strobe high, camera position, on the face, spilling down a smide. Two small strips as rim lights about 4 feet and 45' behind model. Camera left gridded medium softbox to add some depth to the rope. Gridded strobe with stuff in front of it on the background.
Model: Sarah Mac
MUA/Hair: Mallory Glenn
Concept: Robert Sanders

Gosh pilles thats is pushing it even for you... lol That link is to anohter photograph that has an "R" rating... not for the infomercial that we often times get to ramp up someones blog or web views...
I like it, great lighting... honestly I like the linked one much more and not for the nudity but for the style and being not the norm...
My only nit would be that for me the side lighting is a bit strong and tends to draw my attention to the rim of light rather than the model (if that is possible)... :-)
Sorry about the link everyone - corrected to the thread post, rather than the original image that the thread references).
Yep, my rims were hot for the shot, I agree. Will have to cut them down next time. Never sure what the proper ratio reading is for them - 1/2 stop above?
Brent, I love your work, and the concept for this image. I'm a bit wary to criticize, since I'm about 50 levels below you, but here's my 2 cents: The hot rim lighting created a kind of mask on the model's face from the over-bright cheeks and temples.
Also, the bottom half of the image looks quite different from the top half: Darker, more crontrasty...
Even so, this is great, definitely contest/publication worthy!
