My local shop didn't offer the kit, but maybe I should call back and ask? I already have the 24-105L, but if getting a kit would help me get one faster, I'd do it!
I wish I had done that too. Since I have a number of fast primes, including a 24/1.4L II on order, I could happily trade my 24-70L for the 24-105L. Maybe someone (local) wants to do a trade with me .... your kit for my 5D II + $800? I pre-ordered a body only on September 17 with Amazon, so I hope to get it soon. I am in the LA area.

When I put my preorder down, I asked my shop whether they wanted to know whether I was after body only or the kit, they said "not at this point"!. I'm #14 (ordered 6 days after release) so I may get a phone call that dictates my choice. I'm actually not fussed ; I do want to have a solid go at the video function and could do with an IS lens <70mm for that. I guess it will also come down to price, they have not set their own price yet.
So far I've had three different answers from Michaels about the pre-order (body only, but have had a call trying to blackmail me into the kit). I'm getting over them in a BIG way. To the extent that I'm becoming convinced that I'm better off with a slightly used 1DmkIII and a somewhat more used 5DmkI :-)
