This is another hand held, as my wife and I cruised through Zion National Park last week, with amazing lighting. Cheap lens and my old 20D. Wish it would have been the 5D Mark 2, a Zeiss prime and tripod with mirror lock up! I was not even expecting to shoot that day, but when light happens what can you do?
BTW the rock laying on the hillside, in my estimation (because scale in these kind of shots is really difficult to grasp) is about as big as a small house!
I expect to post about 2-3 more from that day, in the next week or two.
This is a single shot with straightforward processing.

You got the first two requirements perfectly...be there and remember a camera. Could be worse, you could have shot it with your cell phone. Great looking image.
