Shot the first half of the home season opener today for Men's BBall here at App. Was looking to be a good game, but I had to leave at the end of the first half to go to a newspaper meeting......lame.
Sorry guys I'm usually pretty religious with the EXIF! The first was shot at 1/200 f/5.6 ISO 1600, the rest were shot at 1/500th f/2.8 ISO 1600. I was using my 20D with a 70-200 and a Tamron 17-35.
Was it the tamron 17-50? Great lens and great shot! Think I would crop some of the ceiling out maybe on the first one, but love the environmental capture.
Love the expressions especially #2..
Great job!
Crazy you had to leave to attend a meeting for the paper you were shooting for !
There's much to like about these shots, as has been mentioned, but I'm not diggin' the hand/ball cut off in your last shot--that's the key to the shot I'd say, and I'd like to see your second shot as a horizontal crop with more space to the left (this is one case where the square crop doesn't seem to work). #1 is a cool shot, but I'm with Susi in thinking that part of the ceiling can go. Very strong technically.
Thank you all for the comments. I tried cropping pretty aggressively for the first time, I think I'll lay off a bit next time! Much more extension in basketball than in football, it will take me a couple games to switch back, haha. I tried cropping that top one down to the top of the backboard, it looks better I think.
Any idea of why the EXIF got stripped? It usually stays with it....I edit in PS, load into LR, then export as JPEG and upload on Flickr.
Great action and expressions. But like the others have said, the hand/ball crop is a little distracting, otherwise all look very good. Thanks for the EXIF info, too.
