Lovely indigo in the upper sky! Great trees, and that little bit of classic American-style fence. Nice mood! Not wild about the railway tracks, but clearly they were there...
I fully agree with the two posters above me: a strong composition and a great mood. Love the peacefulness of this view, the quality of the ambient (low) light.
This really ehibits the peacefulness of late autumn and winter. Seems the starkness of the atmosphere gives way to solitude and quiet. This capture exemplifies that mood. The traintracks, as a foreground object, reall "cement" the image.
Well done!
Dan
My first thought was that the "stuttering" clouds and the trees were lovely elements but the railroad tracks were sort of secondary. Looking again, I realized that the stuttering clouds and the railroad tracks sort of mimic each other. A cool detail waiting to be discovered!
Also, I see from your avatar that this isn't your first shot of these trees! It's great when we find a good subject and can go back to it under different conditions. Where in New Jersey is this? (I'm originally from NJ).

Hi Bev,
I would like to say I planned the mimicry, but the reality was it was an accident
Very obervant of you noticing the avatar. I have shot this location several times before. In addition, the fence in the shot contiues across the road and there are photo ops there also. This shot is in Manalapan township, I believe.

Hi Hazel,
Glad you enjoyed most of the image
This location is close to my home so I will be be shooting it again soon. I'll try some shots without the tracks and see what happens.....
Very nice Michael. I love the mood of this. An early harbinger of winter, it gets across the cold, almost desolate feeling with the bare trees (I love that tangle of fencing round them) and the clear cold sky with those broken grey clouds. I think the tracks somehow add to the "feeling" of the scene.
