p.1 #1 · African Goose

Posted one for ID yesterday here
https://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/709159
that was not fully processed, so here is another frame
that shows how nice looking these guys are.....well, this female anyway.
The light was so bright that when I opened in Capture One, all
I saw were flashes for blown highlights and blocked shadows.
Incredible dynamic range that I was able to pull in pretty fair.

MkIIN, 400mm, f/5.6L and 1.4x
Thanks for looking and c/c

Looks like your masterful processing pulled it all together Dave. I see details under those larger back feathers and the whites have great texture. Even the faint glow of the underwater foot, I would guess you got this for all it was worth in detail. The black BG works well too.

I had already noticed the fine detail in the first image, Dave. This edit looks even better. Excellent PP skill.

Thanks....they are noisy and mean
Nothin special in workflow.
Just make sure in RAW conversion that I get a good histogram
with shadow and highlight detail. For me, nothing beats
Capture One, but that's me.
I do noise removal first
and then minor tweaks, all on the full size before reducing

Sweet portrait Dave, I like this one a leeeetle better and the prudent techs really shine. I'm assuming if you didn't tape up you focused manually? If so, kudos to your steady hands Sir

Nice shot Dave and probably better PP than the shot. That is quite the DR and it all came together nicely. The whites are well done. I'm guessing at ISO 400 there wasn't much noise to begin with. Do you always do NR first, even for higher ISO? If so how do you maintain the details so nicely?
