p.1 #1 · 40D Menu Icons and Raw MISSING HELP

Only the first five menu icons on the top row are now showing. I can't access the raw file setting. Virtually half of the menu items are simply gone.

This has never happened before, the camera was working fine yesterday, and I haven't added any firmware updates.

Has anyone had this problem, or know a solution?

have you gone into a custom setup by accident?
If all else fails you can reset back to default by removeing BOTH batteries (small power cell hidden near the main battery I think.

Just another thought . have you put the top dial into an auto mode or a picture style
That changes the menue vastly on my 350d

THANKS TRILLIONS!

I've never before used a Picture Style and had no idea that they can disable other options. I'd changed settings taking it out of the bag.

I knew it was something stupid on my part because part of the menu was showing- and a true malfunction would have disabled all.

Mu face is red.

I know its the case on my 350 that in the picture styles it only allows jpeg so you cant select RAW and all the paramaters are dissabled as they are set by the style.

At least it was something simple (not the operator

) its very easy to knock things into the normally unused.

The picture styles severely limit the choices you can select in the menu.

I had a similar problem on a shoot... the focus points and some display items disappeared on the top display of my 40D. I switched to a different camera and kept shooting -- later I noticed that I accidentally turned off auto focus.
