p.1 #1 · d90 Face Rcognition Questions

Maybe I'm not looking in the right place of the manual, but I'm trying to get some details on how to use this feature. My (admittedly) limited understanding of this feature is that it functions in live view (only?) for autofocus. I believe that I read that the face recognition feature also kicks in for (or at least has some affect on) determining exposure.

So . . . does this feature work in any other mode than live view? Does it only (or always) work when using 3d matrix metering? Can you turn it off/on somewhere? Will it recognize my Bearded Collie (who always blew out the highlights on my d70)?

Anyone direct me to an explanation . . .
Thanks

Look on page 176 in the D90 manual.

"The camera automatically detects and focuses on portrait subjects facing the camera. Use for portraits; default for portrait and nighttime modes"

You can access it via the "MENU" button, then custom settings -> autofocus -> live view autofocus.

there should be three choices, Face Priority, Wide Area (default) and normal area.
