p.1 #1 · Self portrait, kind of

Don't know if it counts, but instead of self-release i used a friend to hold the shutter, while I was going through different poses

I'm not sure about the background (distracting?), sharpening and colours (I've noticed that 40D pictures are too red out of the camera). Any lighting tips?

C&C welcome.

I guess it counts as a self portrait, Michal. You set it up and made all the decisions.
I like the second one best because of the expression on your face.
The brick wall behind you is a little distracting. Maybe if you had stood farther from it and got it more blurred, it may have looked better.

Thanks Jim. I think you're right about the wall. I should have stood farther from it. I just didn't think of it while shooting. Next time I'll have it right.

It took me a long time to learn that if you going to shoot someone near the wall just give it a little bit of an angle, not straight on.

like the expression in the second shot.

I would love to see some pictures of you as "self portraits" that also showed some of Poland.

Thanks Steave, i'll try your tip with the wall at an angle. Do you have any pictures with that effect that you could post?

With those two shots I was trying to show two things about me: 1) autoironic pose 2) the silly me. Don't know how to bring those two things together in one picture (yet).

By self portraits that show some of Poland, do you mean my "polish nature" or some polish background that will tell something about my life in Poland?
