#1 better defines the muzzle length and shape plus the general shape of the head and shoulder. The jowl is also better defined. And the off camera gaze is stronger. In #2 the animal seems to look weaker and the details blending to create almost a blur of shapes and colors.

first the breed is Perro de presa canario. Canary Islands dog breed, guard and protection, cattle catcher also...
regarding pictures i asked what is your oppinion because these are for me 2 major type of dog portrait(in which most dog owners want their dog to be presented, except the rest of funny postures....)
so, the main issue is how to blend the 2 major attributes of the 2 types...
for me no.1 is better in presenting the dog, better definition of the head, shapes, expression, etc... BUT no.1 is about eye contact... kind, cruel, wild, vicious, calm, etc...sights allmost all the time have more impact for viewer...
so is description, like passive experience, versus direct contact thru sight/eyes... trying to have both in the same picture is something really tricky...
