I've recently chosen 1DsMkII over upcoming 5DMkII.
I upgraded from 5D.
While 5D was a wonderful camera for me, this 1DsMkII is ... out of this world.
I originally thought that I'd use 1DsMkII until 5DMkII came out and all the reviews were written, but I changed my mind now.
I don't care what 5DMkII looks like or capable of, but my camera, and one and the only one, will be 1DsMkII.
I'd strongly recommend this camera to anyone.
The build and AF ... and the image quality....I couldn't ask more.
And at current used price, I consider it as the most value/performance camera on the market.
I think with something like a 5D or an EOS 1Ds mark @!# it's nearly immaterial. The limit of what you do won't be decided by the camera system...it's on YOU to make the image reality.
Ha ha. You guys must have missed the posts where people are knocking the limitations of the 1DsMKIII . This is a lot more heart warming. Congratulations on your new purchase and your excitement. Use it well!
So you're going to stop using alternative lens that hits the mirror ?

I'm pretty sure 5DMkII is a wonderful camera, but 1dsMKII offers me more than I can handle.
Plus, you get an awesome, indescribable feeling when you hold the camera in your hands that you don't get with **D cameras.
Yes, it's called the force of gravity, AKA weight! j/k, have fun with your new toy.

Just to clarify ... I've used 5D with Grip all the time, and it weighs about the same as 1DsMkII.
But, I've never got that kind of satisfying emotion with 5D.
So, it is not the weight...
These images are terrific. No one has ever doubted the IQ of the 1Ds Mk II. The point is, the 5D Mk II will be at least as good as the 1Ds II and 1Ds III in terms of IQ .... PLUS you get a fantastic 3" high-definition screen that is far superior to the 1Ds III, the latest Digic IV processor, 14-bit converter, self-cleaning sensor, live view, useable high-ISO and super low noise, AF micro-adjust, etc, etc .... in a very compact light-weight body.

Besides the large LCD, I don't miss other improvements or consider them as critical.
I rarely shoot over ISO1600 anyway.
100% view finder and better AF system, IMHO, is more crucial for picture taking.
I may consider 5DMkII as a backup camera 2 years later, when it becomes about $1500...
