p.1 #1 · Yellowstone - Old Faithful

Here is a shot from the end of Sept. I spent a few days up in Yellowstone waiting for the fall colors to turn a bit more in the Tetons. Here is Old Faithful about an hour before sunset. One of the cool things about Old Faithful is that it never gets old shooting it. I got to shoot it about a half dozen times, and each time it looked different and unique.

All comments are welcome!

Jim

beautiful work of nature and nicely captured colors! my only suggestion is to crop a bit off the bottom right above the dead tree - but that's just me!

I felt more like a tourist at Old faithful than anywhere else in the park for some reason. It was very cool though. Nice shot not sure it needed the wood piece in the foreground but that's just me.

Hay did you find my sunglasses, I lost mine about 20 feet to your left 4 years ago?

Might be one of the better shots I have seen of OF. Really I think its because of the wood in the foreground.

I like it. I agree that the dead tree draws the viewer into the image and make it more 'real' somehow.

Nice highlights in the geyser water/spray that make it stand out against the clouds in the background. That's a good shot. It's also tough to get no humans in this kind of shot, so you get good marks for that too!

Hi Jim,

Nice looking shot. The foreground color realy sets it off in a good way.

I like the color layers in this image. They certainly change with the seasons. OF never does.

Nice shot, the clouds add a great atmosphere, and the mix of steam and water is nice on this one

Thanks Doug, I appreciate your thoughts on it. As to your glasses, I did see a buffalo running around wearing some sunglasses, maybe they were yours?

Thanks Cleve. Yeah, I did like that wood too, it seemed to work well with the brown grass.

Thanks Gordon. With the sun at a pretty low angle at this point, I think it helped to provide that seperation. This shot is actually cropped from the original. I should have posted that too, and in some ways I like it more, because it shows more sky, and the shape of the clouds in it, frame OF so well...

Nice shot, Jim. Thanks for sharing. I have yet to get there myself. This image just makes me want to get there even more.

Can you share your shutter speed on this one?
