I can't believe noone has mentioned Charleston SC. We were just there for a day, but I could have spent weeks. Old architecture, ships and boats, old military bases, coast lines, beautiful city, locals, you name it, they have it.

Having been to Charleston many, many, many times I can say for certain that while it is a beautiful city appropriate for a weekend trip, I don't think I could shoot there for weeks. I would probably choose New Orleans over Charleston as they share a lot of similarities.

I had a 4 year old with me. So everything takes a lot longer. Everything I take pictures of, he has to take pictures of. Then his (grandma's) p&s isn't enough, so he then has to take one with my 20D.
Venice, for us....no contest, but we spend a lot of time there! As someone said, there's an image at every corner and the people in Venice are hust delightful.
Dave.
Sydney Australia is pretty cool. Except most cities in Australia the lattitude means you only have about 10 seconds of shooting light! It's not that bad but we are all envious of those who live above 45 degrees lat. (Most of the rest of the world!)
I haven't been to Venice but from what I have seen and heard from fellow photographers...amazing.
I'm not a world traveler like the rest but here are some of my fav's.
Pie Town, NM
Happy, TX
Dove Creek, CO
Window Rock, AZ
Moab, UT
Armagosa Valley, NV
I'm a desert southwest guy and all you have to do is pickup a camera and shoot here, everything works in your favor. So from Palo Duro Canyon in Texas out across I-40 to Death Valley there is ALWAYS great shooting!
you have to go to the Cotswold area in england. Marvelous scenes during this time. Pheasants flying around and old ladies moving cows across the streets. You can't miss it.
9 days, 5 grand.??....Rome, Florence and Venice...in that order. Travel via the EuroStar (high speed train). If you can't shoot great shots in those 3 cities, throw your gear in the Grand Canal as you leave.
I have been in London, Kuala Lumpur, Chicago, Toronto and Pune for a considerable time and if you are looking for a lot to do and see in one place then nothing beats London in my opinion. But this is not the best season to be there. The next best option for me is a close toss up between Kuala Lumpur and Chicago. If you are not interested only in cities then KL wins by a margin since there are several places in Malaysia you can cover in 9 days.
