I've been drooling over the ZE 50 f/1.4. I've heard it will be released "the final quarter of 2008". Well, we're 1/3 of the way through. Are these things out in the wild yet?
ZE version is not launched yet, but some samples have been sent to few people for testing purposes. (may be some guys are breaking the lease agreement and selling on eBay).

I thought I saw some of these "ZE" lenses from some of the reputable hong kong dealers already?? Are these just the asian and european models? They wouldn't be different except for the price and shipping than the USA models, would they? Anyways.. I couldn't wait so I already ordered the Contax Ziess 50 1.4... can't wait to share my results when I get it!

I dont thinking, its shipping in Germany... The guy got the lens on loan, and most of the German site are taking pre-order with around 25+ days to ship...

Interestingly Vistek, a camera store (and Canadian Zeiss dealer) claims to be able to order the ZE 50 f/1.4, and have it in within two weeks. This doesn't seem to right to me... T
I wish they chose a wider lens than the ones they chose. There's the 21mm but that one is probably going to be very expensive and maybe a little too wide for me. The 28mm/35mm would have been fantastic.
They'll be coming. Zeiss is starting with the 50 and 85, then adding the 21, but their site says "more focal lengths will follow." So, I'd imagine that all the ZF lenses will be available in ZE within a year or so.
Well my 3 ZF IR lenses are at least in Canada now. I was given the waybill info for tracking. Hopefully they arrive at my door in the next 2 days. So I can believe that ZE's are available now. In Zeiss' announcements they did say 4th quarter for the ZE , and it is the fourth qtr. Though there is likely limited quantities.
Since I shoot both Canon and Nikon I'm going to stick with ZF's so I can use them on both bodies.
I just viewed some shots taken with the Makro Planar 50mm f/2 ZF mount and good god. I think I just may replace my 50mm f/1.4 with it... simply for the 1:2 magnification of the lens.
