It's with considerable trepidation that I post these images. I've never even attempted to photograph a bird in the wild before but during my recent holiday to the Yucatan Peninsula I couldn't resist trying to capture a few.
A number of these are significant crops (all taken with the 70 - 300 on a 40D) and/or taken in harsh sunlight and are, I know, far from top-notch quality. But they're also great mementoes for me of a fabulous time so please be gentle with me
I agree with all of Larry's IDs. I really like the mockingbird shot, his pose really flows with the branch he is on and gives him a very regal like quality.

Tropical Mockingbird, and Tropical Kingbird. Where did you go in the Yucatan? Did you use a guide? Good shots for your first time!
Thank you
We stayed on the East coast, about half an hour's drive south of Cancun Airport. I took most of the shots in the grounds of the hotel and others at Tulum. We were lucky enough to be staying near a small lagoon on the hotel property and almost on the perimeter which was next to a completely uncultivated area. Even saw a coatimundi in the grounds - but not when I had the camera with me
Just found this thread. Info may be bit old by now, but ...
1. Great Kiskadee
2. Female Hooded Oriole
3. Tropical Kingbird. Almost impossible to tell apart from Couch's Kingbird but if I had to pick one - Tropical is safer
4. Tropical Mockingbird
The rest are Female Great-tailed Grackle.
