p.1 #1 · My Oceanside Beach Series [4]

My family was invited to stay 1 night at Oceanside with friends, so we loaded up our lil' daughter, had someone stay with the dogs and fish and took off for one of my favorite beaches on the top half of the Oregon coast (never been to the bottom half, yet).

Here are 4 from that Sunset & Sunrise:

1) Goodbye Yesterday

2) Goldburst

3) Dreaming of Heaven

Note: For this shot, I have a second version of the same RAW file developed with a warmer color temp and then blended between the sky to the sand for a nice transition - this made the sand look more natural - the red in the sky reflecting on the sand didn't look right to me.....

4) The Fantastic Four

Note: Clouds are added from a different trip to this same beach, but over 1 year earlier (July 2007). The morning sky was very bland, so I decided to add a more interesting sky from the same place but a different visit. I was careful to find one that had sunrise qualities to it - even though this is from a sunset shoot !!

Thank you very much for looking and leaving a comment if you feel like doing so.

Great series with the first and last as favorites. You did a great job blending clouds in the last one, John. I love it.

These are really nice John. I like #3 the best. I think your choice of processing is perfect

Love #3, though I wonder what it'd have looked like with a long exposure, like 30sec or more, clearly would have been totally different, but I'm thinking it might have been nice, to really emphasize the dreaming quality. Love those colors and rocks, you made the most of the sunset!

I am going with #3.
The others are nice, but #3 has qualities that make it more dramatic and pleasing.
Good work.

3 for me as well. It is beautiful and I like the texture the pebbles provide.

Hey John,

Cool shots all around here. #2 is the only one that really didn't speak much to me. But I liked #1 alot, with how you handled those rocks in the foreground, and the longer shutter speed effect in the water. As others have already mentioned #3, all I can say is that one totally rocks! I like your work in #4, and it looks totally realistic, so good on it.

Hello John, a fine series indeed, my favourites are #3 and #2 in that order. As others pointed out, the FG rocks in #3 are a nice touch.

excellent shots as always! i have to agree that #2 is the weakest shot, not because it is not good, but rather in comparison.

2 and 3 are my favorites here John. I love the pebbles in the FG on #3. Great job on that!
